question regarding long threads!

I see that for a thread to count as a proof for AC, it needs at least 10 comments from the character submitting the proof - but what about threads where a character ends up contributing well over 10 comments? I get why y'all might not want them to be allowed as proofs for AC, but can "excess" comments in a thread still be used toward getting Resource/Production Points? Like maybe "1 point per 10 comments beyond a proof's worth of thread" or something like that. Or are the comments simply "lost" if they're not in a new thread? :|a
